Pass the story

WALT: Use 3 people for pass the Story:
Once upon a time 3 girls named Leilani, Lillyana and Hinerangi wanted to go to the Mall but unfortunately Leilani didn’t want to come.  So Leilani stayed home and went on her laptop and watched a few movies on youtube by herself. Later on she got really bored so she said to herself let’s throw a party without them so she invited all her friends over that Lillyana and Hinerangi didn’t know about,But she still carried on. As soon as Lillyana and Hinerangi got home Leilani found out that it was time to pack up so everyone went home and Leilani felt so sick, So she went to bed and had a long sleep, Well it was a long night. The next morning Lillyana and Hinerangi knocked on Leilani’s door to ask if she wanted to come with us to have some breakfast all together.Then she was like yes please I really am hungry and I feel a bit better, So the 3 of them went to have breakfast altogether and they live happily ever after together as one big happy family, As friends.\

What I have learnt this year?

What I have learnt this term 1?

This year I have learnt many things like teta o tamaki,Native birds,Native tree,pests and predators and Pollution.This is very cool that we have learnt.Me and my literacy group and three reading as well as three activities.


My favourite thing that I have learnt in maths is?

This term one of my most favourite thing to do in math is when we first start so all we have to do is xtramath and math whizz those are one of my favourite things.The second thing which is the last thing I like to do is learning new math activities like my,Decimals,Time tables, Plus,Take aways,time and seasons.


Free time?


When it is free time in team 4 Mr Goodwin said it other our lunch time and morning tee time.But today which is the 12/4/2017 our teachers let us go on cool math games and we had so much fun.I think the last time we played cool math games was last year with matoa willis I think that’s how you spell his name and he was so cool.



My highlights this term?


I have three highlights this term.My first and favourite highlight was when we went off to camp it was super fun and if you haven’t check out my camp writing thing click the photo from our camp.

Dear Maggie Barry, Minister of Conservation,

Kia ora,Talofa lava, Kia orana and greetings. My name is Leilani and I am a year 5 student  at Point England school. This week we are learning about pests and predators. We have read books, done activities and we have learnt lots about that. I think that we should spend lots of money on biosecurity so that no sickness or more pests and predators come in. I know how much it costs but we really need it.

I was also wondering what are you? What do you do? What role do you do? We have watched a couple of videos of this and I think it was weakness that was killing our kiwis. I felt so sad for that. I also saw some people making traps but they said they don’t want to kill it they just want to stop it I want both. Oh yeah we are also learning about native birds and native trees. These pests are destroying our environment. So that’s why we need to keep them away.

Dear Mr McKenzie,

Kia ora Mr Kenzie my name is Leilani and my teacher Miss parrant apparently nose you.Mr Kenzie me and my class read your plastic bag petition and when I was reading your petition I thought straight it was great.You have a great point about plastic bags and I totally agree with you. When I first did some learning about plastic bags I felt so upset because on a normal life style me and my family use tons of plastic bags.Then like two days after I learnt about plastic bags I told my mum and dad,for my mum thoughts she was like no way and my dad was like with me. I really really want to ban plastic bags because it killing the animals also  about 10 million plastic bags are dumped into our ocean and there’s animals in the water that might think plastic bags are food and they eat it or get stuck in it.My favourite or one of my favorite  lines in your petition is when you said “ by banning plastic in New Zealand we will be setting a global standard and example for the rest of this planet while saving it”.Why that’s one of my  favourite lines it’s because we can set an example for the rest of the world and we can make our world clean and beautiful like before.We can use reusable bags and if you don’t know what reuseable bags are it’s bags made out of cotton or like um I can’t really explain it ahhh it like clothing metral I guess.Hey Mr McKenzie I reckon we can make the world beautiful again and we can stop pollution.

Who Am I?

Who am I?
WALT: To plan and write a recount from our class experience

Key things to remember:
  • Past tense - we are writing about something that has already happened
  • Chronological order - write it in the order that you completed the experience in
  • Use who, what, why, when, where and how
  • Talk about how you felt during this situation add emotion
  • Don’t just tell the reader what you did show them through your use of language features.
  • CHECK spelling and grammar and PROOFREAD

Introduction: Hook the reader, What is your recount about Use the 5 W’s
Who:Room 8 participate and Miss Parrent  explained what to do and how to play it.

When:On Tuesday in the morning after the first bell

What:We got sticky note’s and it has characters.Then we had to stick the sticky note on our foreheads and your partner had to guest it out so you can get another sticky note to guest out.We did the who am I? game

Why:We did this because it was for our recount also we are practicing for our writing test.Also we are learning about new things.

Where:In point england school in room 8 team 4
Body 1: This body of text will be focusing on the instructions you were given by your teacher. What were you thinking and how were you feeling when the teacher was explaining what the challenge was?
First we had given a piece of sticky note with different characters  on each one.

Then once everyone got a sticky note we sticked it on our forehead as simple as pouring milk.

Later on your partner had to act or say some clues that connects to the character.

Some people were quite loud so we stop and I was sad because it was fun.

At first I was feeling so confused because I wasn’t  sure what to do but once Miss Parent told us what to do I understand. Then also I was feeling so happy that we were playing who am I? because I have never played this game.   
Body 2: This section will be based on the what you were thinking and feeling when you were asking the questions of who you were OR when you were being asked questions (Whichever one came FIRST for YOU)
I was feeling really confuse because i’m really bad at guesting,acting and when I do that I give it away so fast or I can’t guest it in like 2 minutes.When I was acting out  my partner character was really hard for me because I couldn’t see what I should do.
Body 3: This section will be based on the what you were thinking and feeling when you were asking the questions of who you were OR when you were being asked questions (Whichever one came SECOND for YOU)
Then once I got the hang of it it was starting to become more fun then it got more loud than it was before.Later on Miss parrent said ‘pack up time’ so we stop and  started to put all of the sticky notes in a pille in front of the tv screen.Then everyone was still standing and Miss Parrent said ‘stop look and listen’ and we stop,looked and listen to what she was going to say ’everyone sit on the mat’ and most of us said ok and we did it as fast  a lightning.
Conclusion  This section will be based on what you learned from your experience. What would you do differently if you did it again?
This game was excellent and fantastic because my partner was having fun I was having fun and everyone else was having fun  and that made me happy because everyone was having fun. Then next time I am going to play this game i’m going to twist it a bit i’m going to do animals instead of movie characters or maybe I will get props as food man now I feel hungry.

Water Worries

Water in New Zealand and the water cycle

Some water becomes the water in the cloud because the air rises as vapour

We are getting water from different places and maybe the water we use to brush our teeth,have showers and anything that in clued with water maybe have been drunk my dinosaur!

We can have shorter showers,don't waste water and people need to understand that every water counts.




We will still be using the old water for back in the day’s also the bad news is that serious water issues are here to stay.
