Hello to you reading. I am informing you that I will be taking a short time off from blogging. I'm going to take some time away and spend time with my family as school is approaching in some time soon. Previously On ' Twins Birthday '
The twins had a great birthday and got many kisses , food , cakes and presents ( presents where there MOST favourite. ) So they woke up the next morning to find all of their toys were all gone!

Continue On ' Twins Birthday '
As the Rosie and Bumbie entered their playroom with excitement they both balled out with tears! All of their toys had disappear! What a disaster. Rosie and Bumbie mother Courtie entered the twins playroom she asked in a soft voice " What happen? Did yous get into a fight again and your bear ripped!? " The twins explained to their mother what had happened. Her reply was so silly! " Oh , don't be silly guys. A special guy took them so they could be cleaned before they get to you guys. Just to get rid of ALL the germs! ". The twins reaction was priceless , as soon as they heard get rid of germs! They realized that the ' Germ Keeper ' stole them! They both walked to their bedroom without their mother noticing , shut their door and called ' Baby Head Quarters ( Baby HQ ) ' Since Baby HQ is always on time they picked up in a instant , the reception answered " Hey there ... " , the twins interrupted and shouted send us to HQ! Of course that's what the reception did but he felt so sad because the twins were soo rude! Now they have one enemy on their list. But the twins had no care because they really wanted their toys so they sprinted as fast as they can to HQ. In HQ there was all of the big boss and the huge , huge , huge boss was their first cousin. Chimmie!
As they both entered Chimmie's office everyone went slient , the twins quite a couple of years ago to take some time with the family and no one has seen then since. Chimmie turned around to see the twins standing there looking very tired and angry. " Chairs! " shouted Chimmie , and two strong unicorns came with two comfy chairs ready for the twins. As they both sat down Chimmie simply asked why they were here , they explained everything and the whole building was in shock! The ' Germ Keeper ' took the HUGE BOSS two years ago and no one has seen him since but the HUGE BOSS still keeps in contact with the Baby HQ somehow. Anyways. Everyone sprang into action and took the twins to a street. This street with REALLY dangerous that the twins had to wait in the car. Rosie heard people yelling , and Bumbie felt the car shake. Chimmie was in the car with them and he did a LOUD STINKY FART! Everything went silent and the door next to the twins opened. It was uncle Robie!

Activity 3: Concluding the Journey [10 points]
Sadly, the Summer Learning Journey has now come to an end. It is time to reflect on everything that you have learned about the environment and, particularly, about how you can protect and preserve it.

- What is one thing that you learned from participating in the Summer Learning Journey programme this year?
Well before I would like to give the answer to this very first question i'm going to be telling you's all something very heart breaking , which most of yous will already know but. Unfortunately this is my last Summer Learning Journey post! I have been enjoying every moment but either this year or next year I can participate once again. Anyways , one thing that I have learnt from participating in the Summer Learning Journey program this year was learning about birds. This activity was week four , day three , activity one. On this day and activity we got to learn about birds and choose one. These birds we were choosing was from a website where people could vote for the bird that they want for bird of the year.
What is one thing that surprised you?
Well the one thing that mostly surprised me was the super cool activities that the Summer Learning Journey team put together for us participants. Each activity was fun and we all had lot's to learn about.
I'm also going to add onto that and say my second thing that surprised me which was the facts.
Each day we got to do amazing activities that the team put together and each time we did one we
learn't new facts , which each fact always surprised me.
What is one thing that concerned or upset you?
Well once again I have two things that have upset myself. The very first thing that has upset me is the Summer Learning Journey activities stopping. I enjoyed each one and every effort the team putinto these activities. Without them I bet my learning would be going downwards. But it's going up.
My second thing that is concerning me or that has upset me is that our world is getting effected by
pollution , air pollution , rubbish , plastic just everything destroying our planet. Which means
the future generations are not going to have a chance of having a clean planet.
- What is one thing that you (or your family) can do, moving forward, to help protect our natural environment?
The one thing that we can do to protect/help the environment is to just keep trying our best at everything , that can help our planet. Maybe my family and I can try the ' Tag Your It ' challenge.
Maybe in 2019 we can join more community service that are helping our rivers for example.
Hopefully in the future my family and I are doing better at helping the planet and our natural
environment.

Adopting Animals!?
Activity 2: Adoption Day [4 points]
Not only can you help the planet by reducing, reusing and recycling, you can also help to save animals and plants by ‘adopting’ them. To ‘adopt’ an animal through the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), you need to visit their adopt a species page, read through the list of animals and choose one.
With the WWF, you don’t actually adopt the animal and bring it home! It’s a symbolic adoption. In this case you pay a fee ($55.00) and the money is used to provide food and care for your chosen animal. Visit the WWF site and take a look at the animals who are available for adoption. Choose your ‘top three’ animals from the website.
On your blog, list the three animals that you have chosen and then compare and contrast them. How are they similar? How are they different? At the bottom of you post, tell us which of the three animals you would most like to adopt..

Out of all three animals that I can choose I would choose the Snowy Owl. This reason is because the Snowy Owl is so beautiful and adopting one would be great! Also they have good night eyesight which can help out if I lost something in the dark!

Welcome to all! Here I am sharing with you all another Summer Learning Journey activity! First let me explain what we had to do. So we have been given a website where you can adopt animals. We had to choose three and create either a presentation or a poster. I chose a poster and added my animals with facts about them in my poster. The animals I chose is the Snowy Owl , Lion Cub , and Dolphin. Once I shared facts about each animal we had to find things that were the same. Hopefully you all enjoy and I will check in next time. Over the past few decades some of New Zealand’s beaches have become dumping grounds for waste and rubbish. Almost 80% of this waste is made up of plastic items. Yikes!
Some companies in New Zealand have heard about the problem and agreed to cut down on their use of plastic. Countdown supermarkets, for example, have announced that they will stop giving out plastic bags to customers. What do you think of this idea? What do your friends and family think? Is it a good idea or not?

Restricted Area! Is It Fair?
Activity 3: Restricted Access [10 points]
While much of our programme has focused on New Zealand, it is important that we also consider the environment in other places as well. One of the most unusual and spectacular sites to visit outside of New Zealand is called Machu Picchu. It is an ancient city that was built high up in the mountains in the country of Peru in South America. You have to take a train and/or walk through a series of mountains and valleys to reach it.
Over the past few decades millions of tourists have made the trek to Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, this has damaged the area and the local government has decided to restrict the number of visitors to the site each year. This decision has upset a lot of tourists who really want to see Machu Picchu but aren’t allowed to go.

New Zealand is home to so many beautiful, unique and, sometimes, endangered animals and habitats. The Forest & Bird organisation is working really hard to protect vulnerable animals and places in NZ. They are doing everything that they can to raise money and to raise awareness so that everyone knows about these issues. These are called ‘campaigns.’ Check out the Forest & Bird campaigns site to learn more about them.
Imagine, that you have been hired by Forest & Bird New Zealand to work on one of their campaigns. It is your job to come up with a catchy slogan for the campaign. A slogan is a short phrase or sentence that is used to advertise something. Check out examples of common slogans and logos below.

Sir David Attenborough is a famous TV presenter from England who loves nature and the natural world. He has spent his career filming documentaries about the planet and working hard to protect it. In a recent interview, Sir David was asked to reflect on all that he had learned and to imagine that he had suddenly been given the power to save 10 animals and/or plants from extinction (disappearing forever).

If I had the choice I would probably save animals like the elephant, white tiger and rhinoceros because they are unique and have lived for centuries on earth. I would also like to save some of my favourite flowers including hydrangeas and calla lily flowers. What about you?

Dolphins!
Activity 2: Protecting the Most Vulnerable - Fact or Fiction? [4 points]
Here in New Zealand we have a native dolphin, the Māui Dolphin, that is on the verge of extinction (disappearing forever). As of this year, there are only 63 Māui dolphins left and people predict that they will be extinct by 2033. Environmentalists and activists, including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), are working hard to save the dolphin because it is such a special and unique animal. To learn more about the Māui Dolphin, please follow this link. If you would like to sign a petition from the WWF encouraging the New Zealand government to take action to save the Maui Dolphin, please follow this link.

A House Is Not A Home
Activity 3: A House is Not a Home [10 points]
New Zealand is home to some unique wildlife that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. While we work very hard to protect our natural habitats so, too, do people living and working in other countries. One of the oldest international wildlife conservation organisations is called ‘Fauna & Flora International’ (FFI). They support a number of projects around the world, including those working to protect Lansan trees in the Caribbean, fruit forests in Tajikistan, and national reserves in Mozambique. Read about each of these projects and choose the one that interests you the most.

As I was choosing the most interesting project it was hard to understand what the project was helping as the writing was hard to understand. So I choose one which I found interesting but kinda hard to understand.
The most interesting project I found was the fruit forests in Tajikistan. As I saw fruit I started to worry about our fruit. Because fruit is yummy and it helps humans live. I started to gather facts about this project and here is what I got. What they're trying to solve is threats in the ecosystem which are killing plants that have walnuts , wild fruit , and other important hard to get nuts or fruits. So the FFI are trying to solve this problem and help the threat stop so that the tree lives with what it's growing.

Activity 2: A Protective Plant [4 points]
There are concerns about the water quality of some of the rivers, streams and oceans in and around New Zealand. Some people have suggested that we plant flowers and plants on the banks of our most polluted rivers to stop the spread of the pollution. Apparently, the plants can act as filters, absorbing some of the chemicals (pollutants) that are moving across the land, on their way to the river.
Planting can be a lot of fun! Have you ever planted a garden? Aronui and I are going to make our very own edible garden this year. We are going to plant a number of veggies, fruits and herbs, including mint, coriander, parsley, lemongrass, onions, tomatoes, beans, zucchinis, kumara and strawberries. Yum! If you could plant an edible garden what would you plant in it?

DAY 2: Protecting Our Own
Activity 1: A Flying Fox [4 points]
New Zealand has some of the most beautiful forests in the world. Both New Zealanders and tourists, alike, enjoy walking through these forests. Unfortunately, constantly walking through forests can damage the plants and animals (flora and fauna) that live there. In an attempt to protect the local flora and fauna, an eco-tourism company in Rotorua came up with an idea. The Rotorua Canopy Tours Company designed a series of ziplines that sit above the forest canopy (top). People can ‘zip’ from one section of the forest to another, looking down on the beautiful natural areas below. To see what ziplining looks like, check out this video.
I have tried ziplining and I really enjoyed it, however, I must admit that I was pretty scared to try it at first. How would you feel if you had the chance to go ziplining in Rotorua?

The Sky In Shanghai
Activity 3: The Sky in Shanghai [10 points]
One day I would really like to travel to China. It is a country with a rich history, vibrant cities, tasty food, and fascinating architecture (buildings). Unfortunately, some of the largest Chinese cities have high rates of air pollution. The air pollution in Beijing, one of the largest cities in China, can get so bad that roads are closed, flights are cancelled and events are postponed while they wait for the smog in the air to clear. The terrible pollution is also having fatal (deadly) effects as, approximately, 1.1 million people in China died last year from air pollution-related causes. The Chinese government is very concerned and they have introduced a number of strategies (ideas) to reduce the pollution levels. Imagine that you were asked to travel to Beijing. How would you feel?
