Firstly , at the beginning of our term 2 immersion assembly Mr Burt explained to us what our theme is , " Where in the latitude are you? ". What could latitude mean? Well latitude means the coordinate of the North and South position. Throughout our immersion assembly team 1 , 2 , 3 , and 4 all presented what they will be learning through out term 2. The time then came to team 5.

Secondly , team 5 teachers shared with the school a play. This play was a virtual travel agency. This play included Mrs Tapuke choosing different continents and other teachers dressed up based on what continent Mrs Tapuke choose. Places that Mrs Tapuke travelled to was Africa , Paris , and America.

Lastly , in all of the continents Mrs Tapuke choose people came to her and explained to her about the continents shes in. For Africa Mrs IIaoa took Mrs Tapuke to explore the Tiger and Leopard , when Mrs Tapuke was in Paris Mrs Stone came in a France accent welcoming her to the Eiffel Tower , and the last place Mrs Tapuke travelled to was America. Which Mrs Moala came in a cute mickey mouse hat since shes a huge fan of  mickey mouses and their at Disney World. After Mrs Tapuke travelled to all the continents she travelled to the adventure stopped.

The whole purpose of the act that the teachers played today was to share with team five students and other students at Pt England School was about what time five students will be learning about in term 2. Team 5 students will be learning about where are we in longitude as well as looking at different continents and what latitude is that continents. Guest Speakers!

Today team five got a opportunity to have a talk about future careers. Three amazing people Jason , Fiona , and Tanielu. But what did they mostly talk? Well continue reading to find out!

Today each guest speaker talked how they got their jobs, what goals they have, and questions that are useful for us for when we grow older. For our first guest speaker it was Jason, Jason works at a building place, but he doesn't build he does the paperwork. Mrs Tele’a husband and Jason are close friends. He is also a fan of the blues and also participated in the iron man, which is where you do running , swimming and biking for a long amount of time. I really enjoyed Jason’s talk about himself because he completed the Iron Man without giving up and he is a very successful person.

Secondly, we had Fiona. Fiona is Mrs Tele’a younger sister by one year. Fiona is a funeral director, a funeral director is where you help prepare for a person who have passed funeral. Fiona has one son which is 19 years old who also helps with funerals. I enjoyed Fiona’s talk because she has a very interesting career than others, many people have different careers but not much people are funeral directors. Fiona’s talk was very helpful for us kids that want to become a funeral director because it made us feel at bit comfortable about being a funeral director and working with people who had passed.

Lastly, we had Tanielu. Tanielu is a rugby player that plays in the Blues! He also came to Pt England School and also went to St Kents. His talk about how he become a rugby player and future plans.

I really enjoyed our guest speakers because it was really inspiring and they had many helpful tips for when I do grow up and it’s time for me to get a career.

Family Photographs!

Walt: Make inferences about a text.

Task Description:

This week campion got a new book as well as a new task. What could it be? Well, this week campion got a book called ' Family Photographs '. This book was based around two photographs taken at two different times and places. For this book we got required different tasks to compelet this task. Here are some tasks we did.

Our first task this week was to answer three questions. These three questions are from the book based around both of the family photographs that were in the book. The questions that we got given in our tasks were easy to answer as I understood our text this week well.

Secondly, we got given a video. This video included three girls from China. This video we got given this week was about the three girls feelings and thoughts about coming to New Zealand from China since both countrys do have a huge difference. This video also had questions included. The questions we got given were simply since most information needed to answer the questions were from the video.

Our fourth task in our group presentation was to create a review about our book this. This review had to include the title, author , fiction or none fiction , key information about the book , and who would we recommend this book to and why. Each week I really do enjoy writing book reviews are sharing them with others who haven't read ' Family Photographs '.

Our second to last task was to find a picture of our own family and write what had happened in the photograph we have chosen, and key information on what had happened. Our last task was to rate our tasks this week!

This week I really enjoyed our work because I learnt new things about another family photograph and how other people from China felt to be moving to New Zealand and other fun facts I learnt throughout out tasks. Enjoy!

My Nana's Journey!

Walt: To create a animation about our grandparents journey.

Task Description:

This term team five had to create two animations, one was the visual mihi and the second animation was about our grandparents or other family members journey which got us to where we are right now. Today i'm sharing with you all my nana's journey.

In this animation I created the Cook Island flag and the island of Rarotonga which is in the Cook Islands. Why was the reason I did this? Well the reason is because my nana came from Rarotonga. Even though Rarotonga dosen't have a airport I wanted to include where she really came from. She then flew to Auckland,New Zealand.

Specking of where she flew which was Auckland, New Zealand. I drew the New Zealand flag and New Zealand as a island. My aeroplane flew into Auckland, New Zealand.

This term as a year seven I really enjoyed team five animations as it explained my past and my identity. Next term I do hope that we do have more fun animations to do.

This week our book is based around two photographs, which were taken in two different places and two different times. The first photograph was taken in New Zealand during 1929. The first photograph is about what are they wearing and why are they wearing that type of clothing and why do they pose so still for the photo. One boy in both photograph is the poet's father which makes connections between the poet and these photographs.

The second photograph is the family in China, which was taken in 1932. In this photograph there is more kids and they are wearing Chinese clothing. The second photograph was very interesting because I learned that their grandfather was from China but he never returned.

I really enjoyed our book this week because I got to learn about both of these families in each of these photographs. I also got to learn what had happened to these family in the pass. I would really recommend this book to all ages to understand how this family had lived.

This week campion got to work on two follow ups. Our second follow up is a interview about our main character. Our task was to partner up with a buddy and one is the journalist and the other is the main character. In our situation I was the main character and my buddy Jahazara was the journalist.

Since I was the main character I wrote about how it feels to be our main character which is tough because our main character is going through some hard times because of what she looks like. I shared with everyone how she feels when Samoan kids at her school treat her from not looking Samoan which is not right.
My buddy Jahazara wrote about how a journalist thoughts about our main character feelings and how she feels at school. She mostly wrote about how the main character is struggling on the daily bases.
This week I really enjoyed our task because I got to be inside of someones shoes and feel how others feel. I also got to learn what bi-racial means and how bi-racial people feel because people do mock them. Hopefully I get to share with others this wonderful experience so they also can learn new things.

Welcome to you all! Today I am sharing with you room 2 literacy class task. For our task this week we  got to do cinquain's. Well, you but wonder what is a cinquain? Well a cinquain is a type of poem but it has syllables. Syllables are words that have either 1 or more syllables, very hard to explain but for example the word yummy has two syllables, Yum my - yummy.

Anyways, our task was to great five lines with words that have 2 syllables - 8 syllables and back to 2 syllables by the fifth line. Our cinquain had to be either about ancient traditions , our identity , or any traditions like Christmas , easter or just any holiday.

In this task I had fun because I got to learn about cinquains and have fun creating new cinquains. I will recommend this task to all ages because doing cinquains are fun and you get to learn new things. In room 2 everyone did different cinquain, for me I did a 15th or 16th Spanish birthday cake , pinata , and my name. Enjoy!
