Leilani - Maker Space - Pan Pipes + Thank You!

Pan Pipes!

 

Have you ever created pan pipes? Well we did! For term 4 Mr Vogt said we were going to create pan pipes. Not the small ones giant ones. Out goal was to make sure the pipes wouldn't move around. We used blue pipes , zipes and bolts.

First group 2 in room 6 maths class they added bolts to the blue pipes. I'm in group 1 so we added the zipes over and under the blue pipes. When we did that we had four zipes going over and under the  pipes. It was 3 groups of 4. I did one group of 4 and I added two on one side of the bolt and the other two on the other side of the bolt. My fingers got very tired. 

I would like to give a huge thank you to Mr Vogt for letting us create Pan pipes. I would also give a huge thank you to Pt England School for letting us build things in Maker Space. I have learnt lots of things for building. Next year I can't wait until we can build more amazing projects.

Leilani - Free Writing - The Cave!

The Cave

I walked into the dark, gloomy, damp cave. Everything was silent apart from the slow drip of water above my head. Suddenly the silence was shattered by a loud shriek! What was that?

Planning

How does your story begin?

One day I was with my friends on  a bush walk. Then I saw a cave so we decided to go check it out. It was dark , gloomy , damp cave. Everything was silent apart from the slow drip of water above my head.Suddenly the silence was shattered by a loud shriek!

Setting - Where and when does the story take place?

In a dark cave. Mountains.

Characters: Who are the characters in your story? Describe what they look like? What they sounds like?

There are four characters in my story - Myself - Medium black hair , short and has a very quiet voice but very humble. My Friend ( Paige ) Medium brown hair , short and is very smart. The Monster ( Peter ) Bad , Wears black long jacket everywhere and very naughty. Dog ( Boo ) Breed - Husky & Bulldog , very strong clever.

How do they manage to get back home from the cave?

It took them 48 hours to get out of the cave. Their dog boo has a great nose so he could get them out of the cold and dark cave. They had enough food for them to eat while they were in the cave. They both got locked up in a cage by Peter. So they quickly came up with a plan and got out of there. Their dog showed the way out.

Conclusion: How does your story end?

Paige and myself got out of there and went straight home. They learnt to always have parents supervising them instead of going out without parents. They lived happily ever after!

On one hot sunny day Paige and I went on a walk to Mangere mountains. It was the perfect day and time  to do it. When we were on the mountains walking up to the top we saw a dark , scary cave. We thought it  would be so  cool so we decided to go and check it out. It was cold , dark , gloomy and damp . It was very , very silent.  Suddenly we heard a loud shriek! Me and Paige started freaking out!

Oooo No! Huge rocks started falling down from the  top of the cave. Paige and I quickly took cover underneath a massive  rock. “ I am super scared I want to go home “ said Paige.  I replied and said “ it is going to be okay we will find a way out of here” Out of nowhere we heard a spooky voice. “ Come here right now , I am going to lock yous up in a dark and secret cave! “ We had no idea who that was so it took us!

“ Paige , Paige ,PAIGE! Where are you? “ I said. I was freaking out ,  I hope I didn’t lose Paige because she is my best friend. “ Leilani , come on I am right here “ said Paige.” Phew I thought you died or I lost you or whatever else! “. It was finally time for Leilani and Paige to get out of the dark , cold cage before the scary monster came back. Suddenly they  heard pawsteps. They  both thought it was the scary monster so they cuddled up together.  But it was their dog Boo. He was trained to help us out he is so cute!. Paige and Leilani  told him to get the keys so that we could get out of the cage. So he did. He is so clever. Phew Leilani and Paige got out of the cage before the monster came back! So they  tiptoed to the rocks that had fallen down for the top if the cave. They  said  that we should  push the huge rocks out of the way. “ PUSH , PUSH ugh I give up this is way too heavy! ” Man I was running out of breath while Paige was sitting there eating some yummy sandwiches.

( 2 hours later ) I was huffing and puffing lots of times because I did all of the work just to get the rock out of our way so that we could go back home and to get out of the cave. We grabbed our stuff and ran to our home. “ We are never , never , ever going back there again” I said. Maybe if we go back in there I think Paige needs to help me out more because she did nothing! Then we lived happily ever after!

I tried my best at writing the paragraphs. Of course before I write my story I have to plan. Because planning makes your writing more organised. Wow Tonga won the game which was Tonga Vs New Zealand. My family and I knew it would be a very close game and it was.

For the first half New Zealand was doing amazing the score was 16 - 2. So New Zealand was doing just great. They had a good start.

Then all of a sudden Tonga came! Tonga was doing amazing! The score was 28 - 22.  Tonga went threw all of the New Zealander players.

The Perfect Goal

I’m flying through the air, high above the city. I’m the world famous Jackson Davis, Captain Unreal’s trusty sidekick, and below us the cheers of the crowd are deafening. We go in for a landing, and people are patting me on the back, congratulating me for helping save the world. They chant my name over and over. “Jackson! Jackson! Jackson” Captain Unreal clears his throat loudly. “Jackson Davis, hand me that comic book. NOW.”

“Huh?” I snap out of it, confused. Then i remember that I’m not actually  captain Unreal’s sidekick. I'm Jackson Davis and I'm in Year 7 at Glenvale Intermediate School. Right now, my teacher,  Mr Hoeata,  is standing above me with his arms crossed. He drops my English assignment on my desk and holds out his hand. I slowly handover the comic book. “ You can have this back at the end of the day,” Mr Hoeata says sternly and moves on to the next desk. Ugh. Compared to comic books, real life is so boring.

I lift my assignment up to my face. Written at the top in red letters is “See me”. I groan. You see, Other than comic books, I'm totally obsessed with soccer. I'm trying out for the team at the end of the school term and practice at lunch everyday. That’s why I wrote my assignment about scoring the perfect goal.  it seemed like a good idea at the time, but I have a feeling Mr Hoeata doesn't like soccer very much.

At lunch, I try not to worry about seeing Mr Hoeata at the end of the day. I’m playing soccer with some friends and I've got the ball. I dribble up the side of the field, and people fall over left and right as I zip past. The goal is only metres away. I kick the ball with one smooth movement. It flies over everyone's heads as if in slow motion - up and up, higher and higher, I feel my excitement building. Have I finally scored the perfect goal?

I stare at the ball with my mouth open as it flies over the goal... and straight into a crowd of people. That’s when the crying starts. I was going to be famous, that's for sure. Because I, Jackson Davis, will now forever be known as the kid who broke Kayla Hoeata’s nose at  lunch with a soccer ball.

Because practice , practice and practice makes you become a expert. He would also get very fit and healthy that is also another reason that he could be practicing every lunch time.

8. Why did Jackson think he was going to be famous for breaking Kayla’s nose? Because instead of being famous for getting the best goal. He would be famous for breaking Kayla's nose. This here is kinda a joke. Also he would become famous because everyone was there to see him do that.
   
   
9. Why might Jackson be worried that he is going to get a bad mark for his assignment? Because he didn’t study instead he read his comic books. He also didn’t listen to the teacher which means he is not respectful.
   
   
10. Do you think Jackson will get in trouble for breaking Kayla’s nose? Why? I think Jackson will get in trouble because he wasn’t being careful and he thought he was the master. He needs to be more himself and not to be someone that they are not to be.

Leilani - Film Festival Writing!

Have you ever been to the movies with your school? Well on the 8th of November Pt England School went to Sylvia park to watch the Manaiakalani movies. Room 7 went in the morning and room 8 and 6 went later in the morning. When waiting in the bus we sang songs , looked out the windows and talked to each other. A couple minutes later we finally reached   our destination.

Once we got out of the bus we headed start into the mall. There was lots of public so we needed to be sensible . When we  were walking I  saw a ride and  it looked so fun. We walked into the movies and waited until we were told that we can walk inside of the theater. Once they said we can go in we all  got a seat and waited until Mrs Grant did her speech. It wasn’t too long because we needed to jump straight  into watching the movies. I was super excited.

While we were watching the movies that other classes made I started to get tired I wish I could go to sleep but I didn’t want to fall asleep at the movies. Room 7 had a really cool movie. Their movie is called the time machine. I loved that movie because it was funny and it was not too boring to watch. I think that all of the Manaiakalani movies were great and funny.

When we were in the movie theater we were with another school. I think that their school is called St Patrick's. They had some very sensible uniform. Their movies were more about the world and how to keep it  healthy and safe. All movies were outstanding and the actors are just experts.

After the movies were all done I was super exhausted. But I had enough energy for the rest of the day. I have learnt lots of things like being more cybersmart , to take care of the world much more better , don’t give up and always try my best. I think that all of the movies showed something really helpful for the future and for the next generations. I also think that we are going to improve more in our learning by watching these movies because they are showing us something very great. I love going to the movies to watch the Manaiakalani movies.

Task description - As you can see room 8 is writing about film festival. This writing didn't take me a long time I just had to make sure I was on task the whole time. My goal was to try and use new words and made sure that I finish it on time. I have done a introduction , three paragraphs and a conclusion. Leilani - Athletics Writing!

Have you ever had an athletics day? Well at my school we have athletics day to keep fit and healthy. On the 10th of November Pt England School had a athletics day. There was different obstacles on the field. When it comes to athletics day we get into four different teams. I was in red.

In the morning once we got to school we all had to get change into our clothes we bring for the day. If you didn’t bring any clothes that is fine you can just wear whatever you have on. Once we had finish getting changed we of course had to get our hats so that once we grow we might get skin cancer.  

Finally we got to start out games. Our first game was dodgeball. It was red vs green. I think red won but I can’t really remember. For athletics day we played dodgeball , shot put , tug a war , high jump , sprints , discus.

After morning tea we did a couple more activities. Here are they in order. Javelin , this other game , relays , hit the ball and the last game was volleyball. I was really hungry at this moment that I nearly fainted. Yay it was lunch time I could finally eat my yummy food. After lunch time it was the teachers , students and parents time for relays. First place was the students , second place was the parents and third place was the teachers.

I enjoyed all of the course  that the teachers did for us. My favourite activity was the sprints. I think everyone did amazing. I love athletics day. But before the day I will be like dang I don’t wanna do this right now I don’t wanna do it. But I end up doing it.

Task description - As you can see my the title this writing is all about athletics day. I have done a introduction , three paragraphs and a conclusion. Leilani - Manaiakalani Fim Festival 2017! Commenting & About!

Task description - Since not long ago it was the Manaiakalani Film  Festival. Room 8 had to leave a comment and write about the movie. I think that every movie from each school is amazing. Task description - In room 8 with Miss Parrant we are learning about string instruments. Here is a task that our teacher told us to do. We needed to do a presentation all about string instruments. Leilani - Manaiakalani!

Do you know Manaiakalani? Well at 13 schools in Auckland , New Zealand they have Manaiakalani. These schools are hard planning and are learning how to be cybersmart for when they get older. The Manaiakalani education trust has schools  from primary , intermediate and college. Manaiakalani helps school with the students education. It raises students achievements. Manaiakalani is very helpful to all schools. Manaiakalani  provides students with things to learn with such as ipads and chromebooks. I think that Manaiakalani is an amazing place for students and teachers to learn different things. I am not too sure about Manaiaklani but I thought that this would be a great writing for people that don't know about Manaiakalani. If you would like to check out their website click the link.

Leilani - Guy Fawkes Day Writing Part 2!

It was time to get up and get our day started. Our plans were to drop me and my sister off back at home. So we cooked breakfast , cleaned the beds , got changed and clean our faces. Once the house was cleaned Sheila partner Michael said that we should get some bolts for their basketball hoop before they drop us off home.

But then once we got the bolts we went to the park to play a game of basketball and of course to play at the park. There was a flying fox at the park and we kept on going on it plenty of times.Our next stop was at pak'nsave.

Since it was hella hot we got two drinks and a pack of ice-blocks. We drank the drinks like real fast and ate nearly every ice-block.

Then it was time to go back to Sheila's home. Instead of getting our bags and them dropping us off back home. We called our parents to see  if we can stay so we can light some fireworks with my nephew.

We waited until it got darker to light the fireworks. It was super cool lighting the fireworks because there was different types of fireworks and colours .  But after a couple of fireworks we had to unfortunately go home.

So Sheila drove us back home and while we was going home she got us a frozen coke at Burger King. It was actually cold outside but we still got a frozen coke.

Once we got home me and my sister Stacey got a surprise. You might of guess what it is but if you haven’t it was more fireworks. So of course we had to light only the little ones because there was tress and we couldn’t light up the big ones.

Do you have a family member that has their birthday near Guy Fawkes day? Well I do. My nephew Kenana birthday is on the 4th of November. Since it was his birthday we thought it would be a good idea to go over to his house and have a sleep over.

Before his mum Sheila came to pick us up of course we had to pack our supplies. I packed a spare jacket , my pillows and my onesie. After a couple minutes later she came to pick us up.

Once we got to my cousin Sheila house we got ready to watch the rugby  league game which was Tonga vs Samoa. Most of us were voting for Samoa even though they are Tongan. Yay! , Tonga won. I think that both teams did  really good. ( Couple hours later ) We seated up the beds and my nephew Kenan started dancing to all of the songs that were on MTV. Finally we went to sleep.
