The Shy & Lonely Dinosaur Part 2

Rhino’s mum pulled up at his brand new school.” Ooo , I don’t feel to good “ Says Rhino to himself. Rhino hopped out of the car and went into school with his mum. Teachers and students ran up to Rhino and started welcoming him to his brand new school. A while later it was time for Rhino’s mum to leave. “ You are going to make some news friends and learn lots of things “ said Rhino mum while waving goodbye to Rhino as he sits down feeling nervous.

After school Rhino ran out of his classroom into his mother’s arms. “ Mum , I made 5 friends and learnt how to spell apple! “ Says Rhino while he is hugging his mum. Rhino mums face was very surprised and was a very proud dinosaur because his son learnt something and made friends , just like she said.

12 years later Rhino is graduating from high school. Rhino wants  to study teaching so he can become a teacher. His mother and father planned a surprise for Rhino once he had graduated school. Rhino had no clue that he had a surprise coming.

A few weeks after he graduated it was time for Rhino to move into his dorm. So he can study and live there. That day was when the surprise was going to happen. His mother and father were very happy for him. Yes the dad

is involved in this surprise too. Once Rhino arrived at his dorm room he opened the door and there was……..

The Shy & Lonely Dinosaur

Once Upon a time there lived a shy and lonely dinosaur. His name is Rhino. Rhino was turning 6. That meant he had to go to  school. He was very scared that he told his mother that he didn’t want to go to school. But he his mother said “ Honey , you still need to go to school. I am sorry but you are still going. You are going to be fine! “. But Rhino was still scared.

A couple days after Rhino’s birthday he felt very nervous. Rhino had never thought that going to school would be hard. But since his dad worked for the army he had to leave to work. Since then Rhino started to be shy and all by himself. He thought to himself in the corner of his room. “ I’m going to be okay , i’m sure! “

Then it came to the next day. Today was time for  Rhino to go to school. “ Rhino! , Come on time to get ready for SCHOOL! “ Said Rhino 's mother. Once Rhino heard that he instantly got out of bed with a shock. Rhino had butterflies in his tummy. He was about to tell his mom but she said “ Come on time to eat breakfast “. Once Rhino was finish getting ready he had to go straight into the car.  When his mom was driving him to school Rhino was looking out of the window taking deep breath in and out.

Task description -

Today I felt like writing a narrative about a dinosaur. So I went a head and did. Here is the writing I have created. I got very creative and I came up with ideas out of no where. This writing is all about a dinosaur name Rhino going to school. To know more please read the story. Yes there is a part 2 coming very soon. Activity 1 - Your Future Self 

It may be hard to imagine, but one day you will graduate from high school and it will be time to decide what to do next. You may want to study at university, become an apprentice, go to training college, travel, or start working. There are so many options!

Take a minute to think about your future. What would you like to do when you finish school? Would you like to work in a specific job? Would you like to study at university? What would you study? Maybe you’d even like to move overseas. Share your thoughts and ideas on your blog site. There are no wrong answers!

Since I was little I would always play teachers because find teachers very inspirational and they are very important. So once I am done with school I would love to go to university and study teaching. But I heard that you would need money so I would work at a job that has great time and give enough money. While I be going to university I also want to take care of my parents and make sure that they are happy and healthy.

I have chose this car because you can also learn how to fly a plane since the flying car is like a plane. But one thing that I hope it has is wheels so that is also can be a regular car as well. But the style and the wings look super cool. It would be also very cool to fly a car just like this.

Bonus Activity - Blade Runner 2049

There is a new movie out in cinemas at the moment called Blade Runner 2049.

It is a movie about what the world will be like in the future. Imagine that you able to travel through time and that you can see what the world will look like in 2099.

On your blog write a description of what New Zealand will be like at that time (80 – 90 years from now). What kind of houses will people live in? What will they eat? Where will they work?

I find that some people are creating machines. Like the vacuum that just rolls around with out you doing anything and much more things. I really don't want generations to be doing no cleaning and getting machines to clean their house. I see the future as kids , parents and elderly getting machines to do their work. I hope that no machines would be working at jobs or then no one would get any money. I say that in the future there would be flying cars , machines and no one working.

Week 4 , Day 3 - Social Systems

In 1996, New Zealand adopted the MMP voting system. In September of 2017 we had a national election. Everyone in New Zealand, over the age of 18, was invited to vote for who they wanted to form the next government in New Zealand. The race was really close and in the end, three different political parties (Labour, New Zealand First and the Green Party), came together to form the new government. It is called a ‘coalition government’ because it includes different people from different political parties.

Imagine that you had to form a coalition government with two other people.  Who would you choose to partner with?

I would form a coalition with my son, Aronui, and with my friend, Amber. Aronui would be a great addition to the coalition because he is funny and kind. He would make us laugh and take care of us. Amber would be great because she is really smart and thoughtful. She is also good at making decisions. I think that we would form a great team. What about you? Who would you choose? Why?

I would form a coalition with my friend Paige , and with my friend Lillyana. I think that Paige would be a very kind friend towards our dissension and she always comes up with great ideas. She would also make us laugh. Lillyana would be great to have because she is a very smart person and she always thinks before coming up with chooses. Lillyana would be a amazing team worker because she is always caring and she has a great personality just like Paige.

Activity 2 - Migration

Over the past few decades, there has been a huge rise in the number of people coming to New Zealand to live and/or travel. I was one of those people! In fact, I moved with my family to New Zealand in 2010 and I am so glad that I did. It’s a pretty amazing place to call home! At the moment I live about 10 minutes from three stunning beaches and a beautiful national park.

Speaking of home, where do you live? On your blog, please post a picture of your hometown and provide a list of three things that tourists, like us, could do if we came to visit. What do you like most about your hometown? (Remember the guidelines for being Cybersmart, and never post your address online).

Three Things Tourists Can Do In Glen Innes , Auckland :

Got To Our Local Swimming Pools. There is three pools , spa and sauna. You can also swimming at the beach which is Pt England beach. The beach is very amazing and you can also boom off the rocks.

When coming to Glen Innes there are many places to eat. Like Toby's , KFC , Mc Donald , Subway , Sushi , and much more !. There are many different options that you can eat at Glen Innes.

Did you know that we have a Te Oro? Well now you do. Te Oro is this amazing building that you see in the image. If you are wondering what Te Oro is it is a performing art centre. The place is huge!

Bonus Activity - Modern Learning Environments

Over the past few years, a number of schools have changed the way that they teach. Instead of one teacher working in one classroom with one group of students, some schools have built huge classrooms where many teachers work together to teach a big group of students. This is called a ‘Modern Learning Environment’ (MLE).

Some people prefer Modern Learning Environments while others aren’t so sure. Take a look at the pictures above. The one on the left is a photograph of a traditional classroom, and the picture on the right is of a Modern Learning Environment.

Imagine that you are a teacher, and design your own classroom. What would it look like? What furniture would you have? I would love to have some beanbags for reading on.

Draw a floorplan of your classroom (either in Google Draw or on paper) and upload it to your blog. Describe what is special about your classroom and why you designed it this way.

I’ve drawn a classroom with pink carpet and bright coloured tables. I also included a kitchen so that we can do cooking every day and a HUGE bookshelf because I love to read! What would you like to see in your classroom?

This here is my design of the class room. My mum helped me with some ideas and she helped me to fit in more chairs. So I am going to tell you all everything that I have. So let's start. I have added: White Bored , two teachers desk , the red dots are chairs , the yellow rectangle is organisation. The triangle tables , the box that is in between the yellow rectangle and purple rectangle is a sink ( this idea came from my mum ) and the black rectangle at the back in the corners are like book shelf.

Activity 1 - Chasing Great

Over the past 17 years New Zealand has experienced a number of sporting highlights, perhaps none larger than the back-to-back Rugby World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. In both competitions our national rugby team, the All Blacks, was captained by a man named Richie McCaw. He is arguably one of the best rugby players of all time. A movie called Chasing Great was recently created to document his incredible rugby career.

Please watch the trailer for Chasing Great and read about Richie McCaw online. On your blog tell us three things that you learned about Richie that you did not know beforehand. What else would you like to know about Richie?

My Three Things I have learnt about Richie McCaw :

1 , While watching the trailer. Richie was a little kid he always watched rugby. Rugby was his dream and he has got his dream. Watching the rest of the trailer Richie always trained , always put in time for his dream and always put more effort everyday and time he plays. So I am saying that Richie McCaw is a very hard playing person. He always try's his so he doesn't let his team down. Richie McCaw got chosen to be team captain because how much effort he puts in everyday and time for when he practice's and play.

2 , Richie McCaw was named as the All Blacks captain for the first time for the Test against Wales in 2004 aged 23.

3 , Richie McCaw was born in 31/12/1980

Activity 2 - Sporting Hero's

In 2015, a kiwi golfer named Lydia Ko became the youngest woman in the world to reach the #1 ranking.  She was only 17 years old. Many people from here in New Zealand and overseas really admire her and think of her as a modern-day sporting hero. Who is your sporting hero? They can be a famous athlete, or even a member of your family or community. It’s completely up to you.

On your blog tell us about your sporting hero. Who are they? Why are they a hero? Include a photo of them in your blog post.

My sporting hero is Lisa Carrington. She is an incredible rower, and last year she was awarded the prestigious  Lonsdale Cup for her amazing results in 2016! She spends hours training, and I think her commitment to her sport is inspiring.

Bonus Activity - Shake It Off

In recent years, many New Zealanders have embraced a new form of exercise called Zumba©. It was developed by a man named Alberto Perez who lives in the country of Columbia. He created Zumba by bringing together many different dance styles including: cumbia, mambo, hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, tango, merengue and mambo.

The Salsa is created with my different styles and musical techniques. All of these came of Cuba. The land to many different Latin dances and music styles. I've heard and seen these dances on many different shows and programs. Even thought the modern Salsa comes for Cuba there are still many different lands and parts of history. Cuban Son created the Salsa.

Activity 1 - Celebrating Win

In 2000, the country of New Zealand celebrated when Russell Coutts and his sailing team won their second straight America’s Cup. This was the first time that a team from New Zealand had won back-to-back championships! Many people celebrated the victory with their friends and family.

On your blog, tell us what you and your family do to celebrate special events, such as birthdays. Do you have a special meal or go to a specific place? In our house, we usually make a pizza and bake a special cake. What about you?

Christmas -

For nearly every Christmas my mother say we are only going to have only me , my sister , my dad and my mum. But it turns out for my whole family coming over for lunch. But the lunch is so yummy and we spend time with each other.

Birthdays -

In our house who ever birthday it is him/she gets to pick what they would like to do. When it comes to y birthday since me and my dad has the same birthday I get to pick what to do in the day and my dad gets to pick something to do at night. I usually just want to spend time with my family at home and have a cake. For 2017 I invited some friends and we went out.

Activity 2 - Lord Of The Rings

Arguably one of the most famous movie trilogies of all time, The Lord of the Rings, was filmed in New Zealand. All three movies were directed by a New Zealander named Peter Jackson. The first movie was released in 2001, the second in 2002 and the third in 2003. The movies cost an estimated $300 million to produce!  

Imagine that instead of spending the money on the movies, Peter Jackson decided to give all of this money to you. Lucky you! On your blog, tell us what you would do with $300 million dollars. How would you spend it? It is a lot of money so please think carefully about it and spend it wisely :-)

In New Zealand houses to own cost $ 1 million dollars. Since me and my family wanted to buy our own home I would buy one with the $300 million.

My dad and mum has a dream car. Each cost $12,000. So $12,000 x 2 = $24,000.

With a quarter of the lifted over money I would give to a shelter so that people that needs help can get some new things.

With the rest of the money I would give it too my mum and dad and they can think of what they can do with the rest of the money.

I love sharing money with my family and people that need help. Keeping lots of money to yourself is called greedy get what you need and with the rest share.

Bonus Activity - The Rise Of The Selfie

Although most of you are quite familiar with the idea of taking a ‘selfie’ (picture of ourselves), this was not always the case. In fact, it wasn’t until the early 2000s that people started talking about the idea of a selfie, taking selfies and posting them online.

In honour of the rise in popularity of the ‘selfie,’ take a selfie and post it on your blog. Try to show us at least one of your hobbies or one your favourite things (maybe a special toy or book). For example, here is a selfie of Hazel drinking a big mug of tea, and Rachel with her son, Aronui, attending a Paw Patrol show!
