Task Description:

This week campion got to work on two follow ups. Our second follow up is a interview about our main character. Our task was to partner up with a buddy and one is the journalist and the other is the main character. In our situation I was the main character and my buddy Jahazara was the journalist.

Since I was the main character I wrote about how it feels to be our main character which is tough because our main character is going through some hard times because of what she looks like. I shared with everyone how she feels when Samoan kids at her school treat her from not looking Samoan which is not right.

My buddy Jahazara wrote about how a journalist thoughts about our main character feelings and how she feels at school. She mostly wrote about how the main character is struggling on the daily bases.

This week I really enjoyed our task because I got to be inside of someones shoes and feel how others feel. I also got to learn what bi-racial means and how bi-racial people feel because people do mock them. Hopefully I get to share with others this wonderful experience so they also can learn new things.

Changing Neighbourhoods!

Task Description:
This week for writing room 2 has been focusing on changing neighbourhoods. This writing we had come up with different places which had changed in our neighbourhood.

For our task we got to work with a partner to work on places that have changed around our neighbourhood, once we had figured out places which have changed we got to list them and create small detailed sentences on this presentation here. 

When we were creating this task I found it very fun because we got to work with a partner on places that have changed around our neighbourhood. Another thing I enjoyed about our writing task was that I got to create fun sentences about the places we choose to write about. I choose to write about Te Oro , the polution that had happened down at Pt England Beach and how the council is changing the houses to fit more people in Auckland, New Zealand. 

Rise Up: The Story Of The Dawn Raids!

Task Description:
This week room two reading groups got different activities , for champion we got given a book called ' Rise Up , The story of the dawn raids and the Polynesian panthers ' which is a story based of dawn raids which took place and long time ago. Our task was to relate to the book as much as we can. For the last slide we got to choose and respond to any text and create either a poster/video about the text we choose. There was a last slide but I choose to create another post for that last slide. Enjoy!

Letter To Ms Tapuke.

Dear Ms Tapuke ,

My name is Leilani and I am looking forward to being in your literacy class for 2019! I have a family of four. Myself , my older sister and my parents. We all enjoy going out for dinner since all four of us are always busy with school and work. My mum is Cook Island and my dad is Maori. I am blessed to be both cultures as I can express them both by sharing the culture around , dancing and singing to others.

I love to watch Korean dramas as they are very interesting and great to watch. My favourite is She Was Pretty! This show is so interesting I also enjoy attending Pt England School because everyday I get to learn new things in different subjects like reading , writing and maths. I enjoy doing reading and writing although I get stuck most of the time because I struggle to write a lot because my fingers hurt.

This year I am hoping to improve on my maths as some equations are hard to solve. I want to focus on learning year seven problems so I am ready for year eight. Or even learn much more that is higher than year seven. Wondering why I want to learn so much this year? Well the answer to that is because in the future I want to get a scholarship to a college when I turn year eight. This reason is because I want to get into a good college so I can get a good education for future time.

A fun fact I would like to share about myself to Ms Tapuke would be that currently I am going to my first swimming lesson this weekend! I am not confident in swimming so my Whanui signed me up and every weekend I go swimming lessons. This way can help me improve in swimming so I can save myself in any dangerous water situations. I am hoping that my swimming lessons can make me more confident in swimming.

Leilani Holiday Blogging - Nearly School!

Nearly School!!

In a couple day's i'm going back to school. I feel happy and sad. Why?? Well the reason is I am happy to learn new things , make new friends and I am sad because I can't see my cousin until November , can't spend lots of time with my family. But I guess you have to do what you need to do.

Learning and fun presentation , writing and much more are still going to be post on this blog. I can't wait to be back at school and keep on blogging! If you would like to check out all of these post coming in a couple more days you should stay tune. 

This year I hope we have camp because last year I really don't think I was prepare and 2018 I want to be prepared. When I am going to go back to school I can't wait to see who is going to be in my class , who are my teachers and what we are going to learn.

When Rhino open the door there was standing his father. For 15 years Rhino has never seen his father.  Rhino started crying and he ran into his father arms. Now Rhino's dad had retired from the army and Rhino would be able to see his dad while he is at school by face timing. 

It has been a couple of years since Rhino was in school. Now he is working at Pt England School. He is a teacher nearly a principle. Rhino is on now on holiday and he is spending time with his mum and dad for Christmas. Rhino is very happy to be with his mum and dad for Christmas and he bought them many presents.

Blogging

In this writing I am going to tell you why I love blogging , how I come up with ideas and a thank you. So without further ado let’s get this started!

At the age of 7 I started my own blog at Pt England School. I was only little then so I didn't understand much about blogging. I got older and started knowing more about blogging and understanding what it is every time I post. I am always confident in what I post and how I post. I need to always make sure everything is cybersmart. When I grow up I still will LOVE to blog because I am sharing my ideas and my learning with other people around the world.

Why do I love blogging? Well I love blogging because it keeps me entertained and it helps me with my learning. I also love blogging because I can see who has check out my blog maybe from another country , and to see that I feel like my blog is very special.

How do I come up with ideas? Well sometimes i'm at home all day thinking of what I should post on my blog. Sometimes I am stuck but other days I come up with some cools ideas. Also I get some ideas off Youtube. They are some great ideas.

When I grow up what do I want to do with my blog? Well when I grow up I want to make my own personal blog that is like my life. I want to write storys , tell stories about my life and do much more. I really want to continue with blogging and make my blog more successful.

I would like to give a huge thank you to Pt England School for giving nearly everyone a blog. Having a blog is cool and I can do much more. It is a great opportunity to have a blog and without everyone that checks out my blog my blog wouldn’t be successful. Maybe one day you can make your own blog!

The Shy & Lonely Dinosaur Part 2

Rhino’s mum pulled up at his brand new school.” Ooo , I don’t feel to good “ Says Rhino to himself. Rhino hopped out of the car and went into school with his mum. Teachers and students ran up to Rhino and started welcoming him to his brand new school. A while later it was time for Rhino’s mum to leave. “ You are going to make some news friends and learn lots of things “ said Rhino mum while waving goodbye to Rhino as he sits down feeling nervous.

After school Rhino ran out of his classroom into his mother’s arms. “ Mum , I made 5 friends and learnt how to spell apple! “ Says Rhino while he is hugging his mum. Rhino mums face was very surprised and was a very proud dinosaur because his son learnt something and made friends , just like she said.

12 years later Rhino is graduating from high school. Rhino wants  to study teaching so he can become a teacher. His mother and father planned a surprise for Rhino once he had graduated school. Rhino had no clue that he had a surprise coming.

A few weeks after he graduated it was time for Rhino to move into his dorm. So he can study and live there. That day was when the surprise was going to happen. His mother and father were very happy for him. Yes the dad

is involved in this surprise too. Once Rhino arrived at his dorm room he opened the door and there was……..

The Shy & Lonely Dinosaur

Once Upon a time there lived a shy and lonely dinosaur. His name is Rhino. Rhino was turning 6. That meant he had to go to  school. He was very scared that he told his mother that he didn’t want to go to school. But he his mother said “ Honey , you still need to go to school. I am sorry but you are still going. You are going to be fine! “. But Rhino was still scared.

A couple days after Rhino’s birthday he felt very nervous. Rhino had never thought that going to school would be hard. But since his dad worked for the army he had to leave to work. Since then Rhino started to be shy and all by himself. He thought to himself in the corner of his room. “ I’m going to be okay , i’m sure! “

Then it came to the next day. Today was time for  Rhino to go to school. “ Rhino! , Come on time to get ready for SCHOOL! “ Said Rhino 's mother. Once Rhino heard that he instantly got out of bed with a shock. Rhino had butterflies in his tummy. He was about to tell his mom but she said “ Come on time to eat breakfast “. Once Rhino was finish getting ready he had to go straight into the car.  When his mom was driving him to school Rhino was looking out of the window taking deep breath in and out.

Today I felt like writing a narrative about a dinosaur. So I went a head and did. Here is the writing I have created. I got very creative and I came up with ideas out of no where. Leilani Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey !

Have you ever heard Summer Learning Journey before? Well today you are going to find out what is Summer Learning Journey , who is running it , what do you do and much more.

So let's start off with the basics . Like what is Summer Learning Journey ? Well Summer Learning Journey as I got told is a holiday posting programme. If you are old to my blog and has been checking often you should know by now that I have been apart of the Summer Learning Journey for a while. This programme keeps students learning to not go down in the holidays. All students that participate in this programme learning goes up and not down like the others. 

Alright now that you have learnt a bit about Summer Learning Journey. You might be curious about who is running this programme. Well this amazing , talented person name Rachel Williams came up with this idea with a couple other people in the Manaiakalani team. Last time I joined this programme she worked by herself with her son sometime's. But now that she has gone much , much more successful she has formed a team. Me , myself I am not too sure abut how many there is and who are they. But I am 100 percent sure that she has a amazing team.

Okay so now that you have learnt some of the basic's you might be very curious about what do you do. Well I think that Rachel does this programme when it the Winter and Summer holidays but I am not too sure. But her and her team would come up with some amazing , outstanding and great ideas for the students that have joined the Summer Learning Journey some weekly activity's. They say that we can do it when ever we want , when ever and how ever we want. 

Do we get anything?

Well yes we do. Rachel and her amazing team pick three students out of the school that they think has done such a amazing work at every Summer Learning Journey post. The other students that don't win get a certificate. For the top 3 winners they get things like ipads , treats , books , food , phones and many other items that they team feels like buying for their prize.

Leilani - Maker Space - Pan Pipes + Thank You!

Pan Pipes!

 

Have you ever created pan pipes? Well we did! For term 4 Mr Vogt said we were going to create pan pipes. Not the small ones giant ones. Out goal was to make sure the pipes wouldn't move around. We used blue pipes , zipes and bolts.

First group 2 in room 6 maths class they added bolts to the blue pipes. I'm in group 1 so we added the zipes over and under the blue pipes. When we did that we had four zipes going over and under the  pipes. It was 3 groups of 4. I did one group of 4 and I added two on one side of the bolt and the other two on the other side of the bolt. My fingers got very tired. 

I would like to give a huge thank you to Mr Vogt for letting us create Pan pipes. I would also give a huge thank you to Pt England School for letting us build things in Maker Space. I have learnt lots of things for building. Next year I can't wait until we can build more amazing projects.

Have you ever been at school with not many people in your classroom? Well since the year 6 were at camp the rest of the year 5 and 6 stayed back at school. We all thought on 24th of November would be boring but it wasn’t. Miss Scanlan told us three choices. The first choice was colourning , second choice was game of awesome and the third choice was cool maths games.

I picked coloring. I chose three paper sheets of coloring activities. They were a tiger , lions and a elephant. I used different types of vibrant colours. I used some of the gel pens I thought that these pens were good.

My hands were so sore when I was coloring. I coloured one of the tiger blue. Because I thought that would be much more different from everyone else tigers. It took me a while trying the colour in the coloring.

After I was coloring my hands felt dead. I would like to give a big thank you to Miss Scanlan for letting us doing some fun activities. Next time I would like to colour more colouring activities. I love coloring!

Have you ever been to a Orchestra? Well on the 22th of November. The year 7 and 5 went on a trip to the Orchestra in New Zealand , Auckland. We watch acrobat and amazing talented people play amazing instruments.

While we were there watching amazing talented people were playing outstanding instruments. We even learnt about each instrument. Did you know that the Violin has the highest pitch? First before the acrobats came onto the stage they played some nice and relaxing music made by different talented players that play instruments. It was stunning.

Now the talented acrobats came onto stage. They did amazing tricks and they had stunning costumes. There was five acrobats. They re told the story by dancing. They did some outstanding tricks. It looked like they practice , practice and practice every single day.

I have learnt much more about instruments by going to the Orchestra. Also I am very sure that that was my first time going to watch acrobats doing outstanding tricks. Would you like to go to a Orchestra? Link Here Please Check It Out!

Leilani - Free Writing - The Cave!

The Cave

I walked into the dark, gloomy, damp cave. Everything was silent apart from the slow drip of water above my head. Suddenly the silence was shattered by a loud shriek! What was that?

How does your story begin?

One day I was with my friends on  a bush walk. Then I saw a cave so we decided to go check it out. It was dark , gloomy , damp cave. Everything was silent apart from the slow drip of water above my head.Suddenly the silence was shattered by a loud shriek!

Setting - Where and when does the story take place?

In a dark cave. Mountains.

Characters: Who are the characters in your story? Describe what they look like? What they sounds like?

There are four characters in my story - Myself - Medium black hair , short and has a very quiet voice but very humble. My Friend ( Paige ) Medium brown hair , short and is very smart. The Monster ( Peter ) Bad , Wears black long jacket everywhere and very naughty. Dog ( Boo ) Breed - Husky & Bulldog , very strong clever.

How do they manage to get back home from the cave?

It took them 48 hours to get out of the cave. Their dog boo has a great nose so he could get them out of the cold and dark cave. They had enough food for them to eat while they were in the cave. They both got locked up in a cage by Peter. So they quickly came up with a plan and got out of there. Their dog showed the way out.

Conclusion: How does your story end?

Paige and myself got out of there and went straight home. They learnt to always have parents supervising them instead of going out without parents. They lived happily ever after!

On one hot sunny day Paige and I went on a walk to Mangere mountains. It was the perfect day and time  to do it. When we were on the mountains walking up to the top we saw a dark , scary cave. We thought it  would be so  cool so we decided to go and check it out. It was cold , dark , gloomy and damp . It was very , very silent.  Suddenly we heard a loud shriek! Me and Paige started freaking out!

Oooo No! Huge rocks started falling down from the  top of the cave. Paige and I quickly took cover underneath a massive  rock. “ I am super scared I want to go home “ said Paige.  I replied and said “ it is going to be okay we will find a way out of here” Out of nowhere we heard a spooky voice. “ Come here right now , I am going to lock yous up in a dark and secret cave! “ We had no idea who that was so it took us!

“ Paige , Paige ,PAIGE! Where are you? “ I said. I was freaking out ,  I hope I didn’t lose Paige because she is my best friend. “ Leilani , come on I am right here “ said Paige.” Phew I thought you died or I lost you or whatever else! “. It was finally time for Leilani and Paige to get out of the dark , cold cage before the scary monster came back. Suddenly they  heard pawsteps. They  both thought it was the scary monster so they cuddled up together.  But it was their dog Boo. He was trained to help us out he is so cute!. Paige and Leilani  told him to get the keys so that we could get out of the cage. So he did. He is so clever. Phew Leilani and Paige got out of the cage before the monster came back! So they  tiptoed to the rocks that had fallen down for the top if the cave. They  said  that we should  push the huge rocks out of the way. “ PUSH , PUSH ugh I give up this is way too heavy! ” Man I was running out of breath while Paige was sitting there eating some yummy sandwiches.

( 2 hours later ) I was huffing and puffing lots of times because I did all of the work just to get the rock out of our way so that we could go back home and to get out of the cave. We grabbed our stuff and ran to our home. “ We are never , never , ever going back there again” I said. Maybe if we go back in there I think Paige needs to help me out more because she did nothing! Then we lived happily ever after!

I tried my best at writing the paragraphs. Of course before I write my story I have to plan. Because planning makes your writing more organised.
