Geometry - Orientation!

Walt: Understand and use positional vocabulary.

Task Description:
For this weeks task we are learning about geometry - orientation. What could this be? Well continue reading to find out.

This week we got to do orientation. Which means we made maps , answered questions related to maps , and had to understand the main directions words mean. The first slide we had to understand meaning of a couple of words before starting to create maps or understand maps. By understanding the words we were given we will know more information about using a map and answering questions or even creating questions. 

We also got to answer questions from a pre made diagram of a made up class. The questions that came with the diagram of the class room were easy as I understood what the questions meant. After we got to answer some questions we got to create a diagram of our own class! This task was fun as I got to made a diagram and I got to answer questions. 

Our next task was to use another map we were given and answer another set of questions on the following slide. These questions were difficult because I didn't understand what they meant and how do I answer them, for the answers I tired as best as I could.

Our last task was to create our own map with around 10 streets and 8 main features on our map. Once we drew out our map we would have to give directions to get to all 8 features for our buddy to complete.

I really enjoyed this weeks math's task because I got to map makes , answer fun questions and got to work with people in my math's class. I hope we got to opportunity to work on these types of math's task again.

Malaga Pasifika

Walt: To complete Malaga Pasifika.

Task Description:
Team five has been focusing on Ko Wai Au? Our task was to learn where we come from and our future. Here we all started learning about our journey and places we came from. Secondly, we learnt about three different times. Past , present , and future. 

As for past we watched a video where it explained what pasifika people did in the past to give us a good education. Past we had to learn where our name came from and what our family did to give us a good life.

For present we learnt more about our culture and where we come from. We learnt about what strengths and gifts of pacific people. We also got to create a shield where we listed our skills , qualities , values , and interest on a piece of paper. We also drew our dreams and aspirations as well as our top two jobs , the amount of pay we get , and useful subjects to get our future jobs we went.

Specking out the future we moved onto the future. For the future we started to talk about our future jobs , dreams , and aspirations. Our job was to use on interest we have a find useful jobs towards that one interest. I choose Kapa Haka since I am always interested in Kapa Haka. For future we also looked at what we want in the future and challenges we would face in the future that might stop us for success in our future jobs we do want. 

We also got to choose people who we wanted to be in our life's to help us during our future. I choose people who I thought are kidn and are always by my side. 

Facts About Jane Campion!

Task Description:
Today I am sharing with you my very first reading task which has been given to me by my reading teacher Ms Tapuke. Our task was to find key information about the meaning behind each of our reading groups name. My reading groups name is Campion ,short for Jane Campion. ( Director. ) Our first task was to read a article about her and find information about herself. After we found good information about Jane Campion I made a google drawing of facts about her self. This task was fun as I got learn different facts about Jane Campion my amazing groups name. Hopefully you have enjoyed see you next time!

Leilani - Kimangi!

Walt: To write a creative piece of writing.

Sitting there with excitement Leilani was thinking , Kawau Island! Best place ever , and we’re going this week! Now that's what I call the best camp ever! ( Few hours later. ). As the year six campers were travelling on their long journey to Kawau Island. The students of 2018 year 6 campers from Pt England School had noticed that it started to get gloomy , and the sky was getting darker every minute. What could possibly be going on? Well I don’t know. All a sudden the captain of the ferry was speaking through a microphone , “ Excuse me all passengers on the Kawau Kat ferry going to Kawau Island , i’m your captain. Captain Boots , but you can call me Captain B. Anyways , we are going to stay out in the ocean for quite some time. This reason is because “( breaking out sound. ). We are now officially in the middle of nowhere! Thought Leilani. But hours later after their long adventure they had arrived at a very strange island. Leilani thought , that this couldn’t be it.

As Leilani placed her left foot onto the dock she felt a sense of relive. But that wasn’t the end of her adventure. As all of the passengers on the Kawau Kat ferry set foot on the mysterious island all the teachers realized that this wasn’t Kawau Island , they also noticed that the Kawau Kat ferry was nowhere to be seen! “ Dang , this turned into a GREAT sounding camp to a upside down dangerous adventure!” said Leilani with fear. Unexpectedly a roaring voice travelled through the mysterious island. “ Hello! , my name is Bentley. I know it’s like the car. Moving on , today you all have come not to Kawau Island but to C Island. Every single one of you’s are going to play Kimangi , you have no choice to participate because you already are! No going back! Helpful facts you WILL be needing throughout Kimangi , is you all have THREE chances. Use them wisely. Another helpful fact you will need for Kimangi is ( silence ) nothing I guess. Good luck and may the force be with you! “. From then and on Leilani felt that there were going to be more nerve wracking announcements about to be told to herself and her friends.

“ Mr Goodwin what the heck is going on!? “ said Leilani , “ well , i’m not sure. I’m going to take the best group. Bentzon. ( Wink wink. ) I will take them and some teachers. “ replied Mr Goodwin. Quite some time later they were off , going on a great ADVENTURE! As they started walking for quite some time it seemed like there were animals or humans living in the woods ( not necessary at all. ) , not long ahead of them they started to hear sticks jumping? Not even sure themself! The teachers instructed them to stop , then suddenly they all heard two people screaming very LOUD. From who knows where! They all sprinted towards the two loud screams , and they found Peter and Erin. Sitting in chairs with sticks surrounding them! “ Thanks for coming , um can you please move all of those sticks! “ said Peter , they moved the sticks away and they ran for their lives! As they stopped for a break they all surrounded a pile of sticks , and Peter and Erin updated them with what’s going on. Wow , there was a lot of things going on. That’s for sure!

They were all so confused , meanwhile back at the rest of the campers , the Kawau Kat ferry came to pick up them up! Why didn’t the others stay!? Moving on , they walked even further and Peter and Erin told them more information on what was going on. Apparently were they were Wallabies were taking over , and they needed to get onto the next level. NEXT LEVEL , what the heck! This means there is another level , what could it be now? Thought Leilani. Well up ahead of them they found a two level home with sticks , leaves , trees all over the place! “ No way that this was a haunted mansion house! “ whispered Leilani , “ Yep , it definitely is. “ replied Peter. Wow , it all suddenly went completely silent. They slowly approached the haunted mansion house. As they got closer and closer to the haunted mansion house they heard the wind whooshing from side to side! Leilani started to get chills. They tip toed inside of the haunted mansion house , i’m not sure why we didn’t go around. Anyways , as they entered Leilani saw in the corner of her eye’s floating chips! Then they all heard a loud crunch , hahaha the ghost was eating chips! Mr Goodwin joined the ghost by eating his morning tea chips , and everyone joined in. After their short break they stopped eating and carried on with their adventure. All a sudden Leilani heard the sound of ocean waves! But what if it’s just a prank? What could this sound be?

Dun dun dunn , it was nothing! But all they found was a button , and of course they pressed it. ( Wait , why was there a button? Moving on. ) “ Dear you , thank you for playing Kimangi. Hopefully ALL of you participants have made it through Kimangi. Now you may leave C Island and enjoy the rest of your life. Good bye. “ spoke a mysterious voice. Finally they could leave. Leilani was extremely excited to leave Kimangi behind. As they were leaving C Island Leilani felt that there were more crazy ADVENTURE’S heading her way.

Task Description:

For our task we wrote a creative writing that involes our trip to Kawau Island. In my story I wrote Kimangi. Kimangi is where Jimangi and Kawau Island mixed together. But as for Kimangi there is only two levels. I tried hard in these writing , I also wrote one introduction , three main paragraphs and one conclusion. I loved this creative writing because I got to use my imagination and yeah. 

Leilani - Titanic

The RMS Titanic was used for shipping mail , cargo and passengers. Unfortunately the Titanic had sunk in the North Atlantic Ocean on 14th of April - 15th of April 1912 , while going from Southampton to New York City. That night she , Titanic. Had collided with an iceberg on a very foggy night which caused the ship to sink. From my research she collided with the iceberg at 11:40 pm which was were Frederick Fleet spotted the iceberg very close to the Titanic. At 2:20 am the water levels increased more than before that her forward deck was under water , with her other half high up in the air with people still clinging to it. However , before some had said that the Titanic had sunk all in one. But when they found her ( which was in 1985 ) they saw that she was in two pieces. All on board the Titanic were 2,224 passengers and crew , maximum was 3,547. Around three thirds of passengers and crew had passed , either from the cold water , sunk or some had survived. Titanic had carried with her some very special and famous names with her like Edith Russell which had survived the sinking. From many of the readings I read , some say that most passengers would have survived the collide with the iceberg if the crew put more people on each lifeboat. So , I think that the meaning to that is more people from the crazy disaster could have survived. Another information I learnt was that Titanic might not be the real Titanic. Some say that the ship that sank is really Titanic’s sister ship Olympic. White Star Line couldn’t lose the amount of money from Olympic sinking so they simply switched their names around. However , if you don’t agree with this information please don’t take it off on me. I found this research about RMS Titanic.

85 years later James Cameron made a romance movie after the sinking of Titanic. While James Cameron was writing the script of Titanic , he modeled the character of Rose after Beatrice Wood. An American artist. 18 December 1997 , when James Cameron released his movie Titanic. It got heaps of hits , in fact Titanic became and still is in the top five highest grossing movie film of all time! But the movie of Rose and Jake isn’t in fact real. Rose and Jake are add on characters to make the movie Titanic more romantic. But in real life Rose and Jake are real people. Kate Winslet character for Titanic Rose , Leonardo Dicaprio character for Titanic is Jake. Both are now 43 years old. While the movie was in making Kate and Leonardo were 21 and 22. While I was reading about Titanic I didn’t find much information about Jake , but I found many about Rose. The movie Titanic is very sad but it’s a great movie at the same time.
